There’s something entirely fitting about 30 influencers sinking a multi million dollar Lamborghini yacht, being rescued by the US Coast Guard, and acting like they’re in the middle of a party the entire time. It’s almost like online influencers don’t live in reality, seeing even their tragedies as content to keep their simping followers satisfied and donating loads of cash for more hapless adventures.
Former Formula One driver Jochen Mass is dead at 78.
The incident in question unfolded off the coast of Miami Beach, Florida back on May 3 at about 5 pm. According to the Coast Guard, the 63-foot boat was taking on water when a distress call was received.
There’s all kinds of footage online of the rescue, which shows plenty of bikini-clad influencers shaking it for the camera, obviously in hopes of getting famous or something. We’re not showing those videos, instead sticking to images taken by the Coast Guard because we’re beyond tired of influencers monetizing everything, including their stupidity.
As many people commented, the 30 women were accompanied by two men old enough to be their father, who also don’t have enough sense to know you can’t have that many people on a boat that size.
We don’t know who owns the yacht, if the men were renting it, but the whole situation is symbolic of far too many attitudes in modern society. Too many people are concerned with getting famous instead of having some sense. Plus, one of the influencers was clutching a rather pricey bottle of alcohol when she was rescued, talking about how the “baby” was at least safe.
Another was holding her iPad. Many were dancing on the sinking ship, then continued busting a move on the Coast Guard vessel, clearly unfazed by what happened. Trying to explain the science behind buoyancy would likely just be an exercise in frustration.
In the meantime, the insurance claim on this incident is going to be a hoot for the owner. A private company has to salvage the ship, which reportedly is worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $3 million.
Will the influencers have to help cover the cost? We have no idea, but someone’s going to be on the hook for this pricey disaster.
