One might wonder what a seven-time Formula One world champion does in his spare time, like Lewis Hamilton, before the start of a new season. Apparently, to get away from the stress of the most elite open-wheel racing series, he tools around Monaco on a superbike.

More specifically, Hamilton was recently captured on camera taking off from the Palais de la Plage apartments on his MV Augusta F4 LH44. While the motorcycle is plenty fast, we’re pretty sure his Ferrari SF-25 could take it down.
Hamilton, or at least we’re told it was him, was wearing a full-face helmet with the tinted visor down when he came out of the building, then mounted the superbike. We imagine the guy just wants some privacy and is probably sick of his photos being splashed around, especially if someone captures him making a weird face, like we all do in our everyday life.
While Hamilton was wearing a helmet fit for really riding, the rest of his outfit was more casual, so he was probably going somewhere to relax and possibly socialize instead of really pushing the motorcycle. The guy gets more than his share of going fast, so sometimes it’s got to be nice to slow things down.
With pre-season testing in Qatar declared a success by Scuderia Ferrari HP, Hamilton is taking a much-deserved break before the F1 season kicks off.
Because he helped develop the MV Augusta F4 LH44 (he’s he LH44, if you’re wondering) it seems fitting he uses one to get around Monaco. A mere 44 were made, honoring his number in F1, so each one is special.
Thanks to the 998cc four-cylinder engine whipping out 212-horsepower and 85 lb.-ft. of torque, the superbike really moves. It also has an adjustable Ohlins suspension, so Hamilton can change that setting when he wants to just ride leisurely versus go flat-out on a track.
