Actor Kiefer Sutherland was arrested early Monday following an alleged altercation with a rideshare driver in Los Angeles, according to arrest and jail records. The incident occurred just after midnight near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue, an area south of the Hollywood Hills.
Los Angeles police officers were dispatched to the scene around 12:15 a.m. after receiving a report of an assault involving a rideshare driver. Investigators later determined that Sutherland, 59, had entered the vehicle and was accused of physically assaulting the driver and making criminal threats during the encounter. Officers arrested Sutherland at the location.

Jail records show that Sutherland was booked into custody a little after 4 a.m. on an unspecified felony charge. He was assigned bail set at $50,000 and was released later that morning after posting bond. Records indicate he spent approximately seven hours in custody before being released.
Sutherland is scheduled to make his first court appearance related to the case on Feb. 2 at Los Angeles Superior Court. No additional details about the alleged altercation have been released, and police have not announced whether further charges may be considered as the investigation continues.
