Fashion-conscious NBA player James Harden recently showed off his new shoes that match his new supercar, a Maserati MC20. He completed the bizarre look with what appear to be leather shorts, leather jacket, black T-shirt, sunglasses, and of course his murse (it’s European).
See the custom Cadillac Shaq forgot he bought.
While some think his “drip” is great, praising the matching Maserati and shoes, not everyone agrees. But one man’s fashion forward move is another man’s absolute cringe gambit. Somehow, we don’t think the professional basketball player who could wipe his nose using $100 bills really cares.
The post he put up on Instagram to show off the matching supercar and shoes was to promote the new Adidas Harden Volume 9 sneakers. Adoring fans of the Los Angeles Clippers point guard undoubtedly snatched up the new kicks without even thinking because their hero wore them for a photo shoot.
What’s really crazy about this publicity stunt, which absolutely worked because here we are covering it, is how the Maserati MC20 was wrapped in a matte teal with patterns to mimic the design of the new shoes.
That includes mock mesh patterns and the V9 logo – something which confused some social media users wondering if the Maserati has an unconventional engine. They apparently didn’t understand the assignment.
Harden has used his own supercars in the past to promote his Adidas shoes in the past, including using his Ferrari SF90 at one point. But never before has he wrapped one to mimic the shoe’s design, taking the MC20 to a whole new level.
What’s interesting about this is not only is Harden advertising his shoes, he’s in a way doing some marketing for Maserati. Considering the MC20 has struggled to sell, we’re sure the Italians are grateful.
