Tucked away in the Louisiana countryside, a private property littered with both classic and more modern cars contains a true treasure: a 1969 Camaro with an L88 swap. YouTuber Backyard Barn Finds, who has a knack for networking and finding some really interesting rides hidden away, tracked this one down.
Learn why the cops were looking for a barn find Corvette.
At first, our YouTube guide who secured an invitation to this property is like a kid in a candy store looking at all the different cars scattered about. Some are in great condition and others are just body shells, but he pours over each one asking questions and making observations. Plus, he’s able to determine which might be available for purchase, if you’re interested in any.
But they eventually make their way to the whole reason for the visit, the 1969 Camaro. Immediately, the YouTuber notices the muscle car is outfitted with an L88 hood, but the owner is quick to add the engine is missing. But he says he has one in the shop, so a buyer might not have to source one or consider a different option.
The owner admits he grabbed this rough ’69 Camaro because it’s part of the way towards making a clone car. In other words, it’s not quite as valuable as you might expect up front, but it would still make for a cool, fun ride and be worth something.
One big question the YouTuber had was whether or not the car, which is badged as a Z28, was in fact one out of the factory. As soon as they get the hood open he zeroes in on the air conditioning, quickly concluding it was not a Z28 since they didn’t come with such a luxury. The guy has a good eye.
He confirms it was either an SS or small block car using the VIN. Looking at other details, he decides it likely had a 350ci V8. While that’s disappointing, like we said with an L88 swap it could still be a fun ride.
What would you do with this ’69 Camaro?
