We love ourselves a good sleeper build and this 1966 Chevelle with twin-turbo power definitely qualifies as one. While the classic muscle car has obviously been cleaned up and modernized, the exterior doesn’t give away just how powerful and quick it truly is, making it a surprise the owner can unleash at his leisure.
Check out this Ford F100 sleeper.
Built by American Legends, this restomod Chevelle is beautiful inside and out, including in the engine compartment. It’s a real head-turner with gorgeous red paint, matte gray trim, and gold wheels. There are some select carbon-fiber components with exposed weave, too.

By the way, American Legends caused a huge uproar a few years ago with its Corrupt Mustang. The classic pony car sports a modern Ferrari engine, managing to rile quite a few purist Ford and Ferrari fans at the same time. We’ve seen that build in person and it’s amazing and hilarious.
Back to the ’66 Chevelle, few will expect the twin-turbo 376ci LSX that sits underneath the vented hood. It’s modified with an Edelbrock Cross-Ram intake, air-to-water forced induction cooling system, and twin Comp Turbo CT3s. With 6 lbs. of boost and running on 91 octane gas, output is a claimed 550-whp.
Mated to the LSX is a tuned 4075 automatic transmission, a choice many will find surprising. Backing that up is a Currie 9-inch rear axle.

While the Chevy rides on a stock chassis, it’s been boxed and back halved in lieu of an aftermarket solution from Roadster Shop, etc. A RideTech suspension with a four-link in the rear helps keep handling nice and tight. There are also Wilwood brakes with 6-piston calipers at all four wheels, taking performance well beyond what a normal ’66 Chevelle would offer.
If this sleeper Chevelle restomod looks familiar, you might have seen it at the 2024 SEMA Show. Check out the video to see the Autotopia LA review and get more details on the build – it’s awesome.
