Shoveling snow off your driveway and walkways absolutely sucks, which is why we definitely recommend a snowblower. Even better than that is using an RC truck with a snowblower attached to the front end. A guy has shown off this amazing invention he made using a 3D printer and we love it.
Ford Model T snowmobiles were in fact the first snowmobiles ever.
In the video demonstration of this clever device, we see the red RC pickup truck with the large attachment up front easily clearing several inches of fresh powder off a front porch. The guy claims this is 5-plus inches of snow and it looks to be about that much so we’ll just take his word for it.
The snowblower seems to work smoothly. It never appears to get bogged down but instead just shoots the snow in a graceful arc just like what you’d expect with a large snowblower.
Cleverly, this guy made the snowblower attachment so the chute will rotate through remote input. That means you can switch up to which side the fresh powder gets thrown without being anywhere near the little truck.
We do wonder how this will work in cold weather. After all, in our experience RC vehicles run down their batteries a lot faster when it dips below freezing. If you have a really big driveway could that present a problem? Will you just have to battery swap partway through?
One potential of this invention is that someone who doesn’t want to or for health conditions can’t spend much time out in the cold could use an RC truck to clear snow while sitting in front of a window inside their house.
We’re sure in the future there’s going to be some sort of Roomba-type snowblower that will just eat the neighbor’s cat as it roams around clearing snow from your driveway. Until then, this RC truck snowblower is probably the coolest way to get that white stuff off your hard surfaces.
