Frankie Muniz Makes His NASCAR Debut

Child actor Frankie Muniz charmed millions in the hit comedy show Malcom In The Middle but he’s now performing behind the wheel of a racecar. More specifically, the celebrity participated in his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck race on Friday night, calling it “an amazing time.”

For those who don’t know, Muniz is one of a handful of celebrities who actually race competitively. In other words, this wasn’t his first rodeo, even though it was his debut race for the NASCAR series.

The race, the Rackley Roofing 200, was held at Nashville Superspeedway with Muniz on the Reaume Brothers Racing team. According to the team, Muniz will get behind the wheel in four races this season, starting with Friday night’s.

Muniz will compete in the Bristol and Kansas City, Kansas races in the truck series. The fourth race will be for the ARCA Menards Series in Brooklyn, Michigan.

Sadly, Muniz’s truck experienced overheating problems on lap 86. That meant a 31st place finish, what the actor calls not “the result we would have wanted.” He seems to be keeping his chin up after that rough introduction to NASCAR Craftsman Truck racing, which is a good thing.

While he might not be the most seasoned racer, he has more experience than many. Muniz has been racing since 2004 with his first experience behind the wheel coming with the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race event. He was bit by the motorsports bug and a few years later got into more serious racing. He’s been on and off with the sport ever since.

We’re not sure what Muniz’s future racing career might be. He did say last week’s race helped him start thinking in “race mode moving forward.” So perhaps we’ll see more of him on the track in the not too distant future.
