Fleeing Dodge Ram Gets The Arkansas Welcome

Estimated read time 2 min read

Dodge Rams have a real reputation among most drivers and for good reason. After all, there’s something about them that attract super aggressive personalities, perhaps the market all about “grabbing life by the horns” or some such thing. Whatever it is, seeing one get treated roughly after fleeing from Arkansas State Police sure is fun.

Watch a Michigan trooper light up a fleeing Dodge Durango.

Like so many ASP pursuits, this one starts with the trooper responding to a request from local law enforcement. They’re struggling getting the suspect in the large pickup to pull over. But the trooper has some methods of persuasion which can get the Ram to comply.

You’ll note in the dashcam footage the trooper isn’t driving one of the regular Dodge Chargers in the ASP fleet but instead one of the “low profile” versions which is red, not white. The different color helps with catching people who are busy looking for the usual cruisers, but with the lights and sirens active it’s obvious they’re a cop car.

In other words, it’s not like this Ram driver thinks some random guy in a Charger is harassing him while he’s running from police. Maybe he doesn’t understand he’s tangling with a state trooper, but we suspect he would still run anyway.

After all, the guy is being incredibly reckless, swerving around, whooshing past a school bus that’s stopped, cutting it close with other cars, etc. If anyone deserves a brutal PIT maneuver, it’s this driver.

Once the trooper has a shot where the Dodge Ram isn’t near innocent bystanders, he goes in for the kill. The suspect is traveling at over 100 mph, so it’s a high-risk PIT that’s necessary to perform before the guy uses the pickup to really hurt someone.

While the Ram spins off the road that’s slick with rain, the trooper also loses control, rolling once it reaches the grassy shoulder. Thankfully the trooper wasn’t injured in the crash as he put his life on the line to serve and protect.

Check it out for yourself.
