We bring to you yet another BMW M6, this one a first generation E24, also abandoned in a yard. Some are going to be fighting mad seeing the condition of this Bavarian hero, because it’s bad outside and in. The doctor who owns it parked the thing 25 years ago, but thanks to his kids’ intervention, it gets a full detailing with the aim to motivate him to fix its mechanical problems.

Sometimes people just park a car and leave it on their property with the intention of addressing some issue with it. While you might want to criticize owners for neglecting their ride, the fact is we all procrastinate on at least some things. You might not with vehicles, but for some people it’s a problem they keep meaning to address but don’t get around to it.

Maybe repairing a car is just too expensive when it’s first parked. Then other things happen. They look at the vehicle and see it’s filthy, the tires are flat, and they start feeling overwhelmed about how it probably has even more problems.
They put off addressing the car. It becomes too much, pushed out of their mind, something which nags their subconscious and every once in a while intrudes into their consciousness.
While this BMW M6 E24 was expensive for its time and a true rarity here in the US, making it hard to see in this condition, perhaps that’s why the owner didn’t just ditch the thing. But it’s covered in algae, has rodents’ nests inside, and something shoved a bunch of dirt and rocks into the tailpipe.
However, as AMMO NYC starts cleaning it up, the paint looks to be in much better condition than we would’ve thought. But they have to battle corrosion and other challenges to get this ride fully detailed.
But the Bimmer cleans up nicely. Even though it’s in need of some restoration work, both mechanical and cosmetic, the results are enough to astound the owner. Here’s to hoping he cherishes the classic instead of letting it molder in the yard again.
