With the dust sufficiently settled from last weekend’s 24 Hours of Le Mans race, Ferrari has once again dominated. The #83 Ferrari 499P driven by Yifei Ye, Phil Hanson, and former Formula One star Robert Kubica. It marked the third time in the row a Ferrari has won the race.
Genesis is preparing to race in the next 24 Hours of Le Mans.
That means the team in Maranello gets to keep the Le Mans trophy forever. That’s a feat Ferrari hasn’t accomplished since the 1960s in its heyday. The team now has a total of 12 first place finishes at the 24 Hours of Le Mans under its belt.
The #51 Ferrari 499P driven by Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Antonio Giovinazzi took third place, with the #50 Ferrari 499P crossing the finish line in fourth. That last result was revised later – more on that below.
Coming in second was the #6 Porsche 963 driven by Kevin Estre.
The Ferrari 499Ps once again blew away competitors on the straightaways, thanks to a much faster top speed. Even though officials have tried to level the playing field in that area, Ferrari engineers found a way to push past 210 mph.

However, there was a cloudy spot for Ferrari amidst all the radiant sunshine of victory. The #50 Ferrari 499P driven by Nicklas Nielsen, Antonio Fuoco and Miguel Molina was thrown out of the race results after officials found a rear wing violation.
Ferrari has disputed the decision, saying the discrepancy in the rear wing didn’t give its car a performance advantage. We’d expect the team to say nothing short of that.
Another notable detail was the lack of contact and drama between cars at the beginning of the race. There have been many dustups in the past, but this year’s race was a nice departure from that.
