Someone did the unthinkable, dropping a Honda K20 engine into a classic Ferrari. The vehicle in question is a 1981 Ferrari 308 GTBi, lovingly referred to as the 244 GTK. YouTube channel StanceWorks has been chronicling the build as it’s evolved over the past two years, but it’s finally reached a state of being pretty much all ironed out.

As you might imagine, this car has been the subject of much praise and rage. Sure, these days we have all kinds of crazy builds like a classic Rolls-Royce with a Hellcat engine swap or a lifted Off-Road Viper.

But this Ferrari goes where few others dare, committing an act of sacrilege against the powers that be in Maranello. Enzo himself is probably cursing up a storm, wherever he might be at the moment.
All of this is part of the fun of making such a car for Mike Burroughs of StanceWorks. He’s loving all the feedback on his hard work and who can blame the guy? He says it’s “easily one of the coolest things I’ve ever been a part of” referring to his creation heading out to participate in GridLife South Carolina.
While the Ferrari has used a Honda K20 four-banger for a while now, it recently received an upgraded Shiftech pneumatic transmission control system. It already sports a number of other modifications too long to list out, including a full roll cage, meaning it’s ready to participate in some serious racing.
Falken Motorsports caught wind of this build and amazingly approached StanceWorks about joining the team. And that’s how the Ferrari 244 GTK was able to jump into the GridLife South Carolina race. Big sponsorships like that can open doors you might not have known even existed.
