It’s not often we see old Chrysler Town And Country minivans on the road, so seeing one that’s being put to use in a creative way really made us laugh. Someone is actually selling this “camper/inclosed (sic) trailer” and it’s apparently registered as a legal trailer in North Carolina.
Maybe you’d rather roll like a cop in this ride?
We have so many questions, but first let’s get to what we know. The doors are still on this minivan and appear to all be functioning, which is actually quite handy. After all, the sliding doors on these vehicles are what make them so utilitarian.
The interior has been gutted except for the carpeting, headliner, and hard plastic tripm pieces. But the dash is gone along with the seats, center console, etc. so you have plenty of room to stretch out on a cot or air mattress.
It looks like a wood shelf of some sort was installed just behind the windshield with a speaker mounted, allowing you to jam out while chilling at your camp spot or the Walmart parking lot.
According to the seller, there’s a 2-inch receiver, plus the brake lights and turn signals work. The person also has the title, so that’s a big plus.
One of our questions is how anyone got the idea to gut a minivan, remove the front wheels, and turn it into a trailer? We assume the engine and transmission were removed in the process, but we’ve only seen the payload on old pickups converted like this.
What we also wonder about is stability at speed and through turns. How does this Chrysler work on the roads? We’re sure the seller would be more than willing to explain that to any interested buyers.
For $800 this might be the trailer or camper of your dreams. Check out the listing for it here.
