A lot of cars were flooded or buried in landslides during the devastation of Hurricane Helene, including quite a few supercars, ultra luxury rides, and classic cars. What were once highly collectible and desirable rides have become dogs thanks to their damaged state.

Some YouTubers went to a salvage yard where these insurance vehicles are lined up in row after row. If you’re a big gearhead, there likely is at least one ride in the footage which will make you cry or even temporarily wonder if personally rescuing it wouldn’t be viable.
Those are natural feelings to experience when you see such beautiful, amazing rides essentially thrown away. However, it’s not without reason. If you’ve ever dealt with a car that’s been underwater, even briefly, you know what the long-term consequences can be.
But to see the lineup of amazing cars just sitting there is excruciating. Among them is a Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Ford GT, multiple Ferrari 488s, a Dodge Viper convertible, Bentley Continental, Rolls-Royce Cullinan, multiple Lamborghini Aventadors, Ferrari F430, classic Ford Thunderbird, Tesla Cybertruck, Maserati Ghibli, etc. There are many, many other impressive rides you can check out in the video.
Like the guy says, a lot of these vehicles don’t have a title, so anyone buying them is going to have to deal with that. Most are likely destined to be parted out and sold that way, a sad fate for sure.
After a car has sat underwater even for a short time, the issues can multiply like rabbits. Electrical issues can be especially vexing, which is even more of a headache in modern rides with tons of onboard electronics.
But corrosion issues are also a huge issue, with just about any metal that was exposed to the water starting to go downhill. The same goes for carpeting, insulation, and other materials throughout the vehicle. Plus, water can get trapped in the nooks and crannies, unable to drain out entirely.
While the loss of life, homes, and livelihoods far surpass the tragedy of these collector cars being destroyed in Hurricane Helene, this is still a sad consequence of the unchecked force of Mother Nature.
