Cadillac has revealed an early look at how its Formula 1 cars will appear on track, offering a controlled preview rather than the final race-day design. The livery unveiled by General Motors President Mark Reuss is a temporary testing scheme that will be used exclusively during the series shakedown later this month at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain.
People Question Just How Authentic Cadillac Barn Find Really Is…
The shakedown is scheduled for January 26 through January 30 and serves as the team’s first official on-track activity ahead of its debut season. While the design introduces Cadillac’s visual identity to Formula 1, it is not representative of the final appearance fans will see during competition. The full-season liveries for Cadillac’s two-car entry are set to be revealed February 8 during the Super Bowl broadcast.

The unveiling took place as part of General Motors’ opening-week events at its new headquarters inside Detroit’s Hudson’s building. A full-scale replica Formula 1 car wearing the testing livery was included in the display and is scheduled to remain on public view at the Detroit Auto Show through January 25.
According to Cadillac, the testing livery was designed to balance brand expression with the practical demands of pre-season development. In Formula 1, early-session liveries are commonly used to obscure aerodynamic details while teams gather data and refine performance. Cadillac’s design uses a restrained color palette and geometric elements intended to visually mask bodywork while still signaling the brand’s arrival on the global stage. A prominent Cadillac crest is positioned toward the rear of the car, while vertical patterning across the body adds visual depth and serves a functional purpose during testing.

A notable design detail is the inclusion of the names of the team’s founding members from both the United States and the United Kingdom, which appear on the nose of the car as a nod to the international effort behind the program.
Cadillac will join the Formula 1 grid as the championship’s 11th team, fielding veteran drivers Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas. The organization has also named former Sauber racer Zhou Guanyu as its reserve driver. Former IndyCar driver Colton Herta has moved to Formula 2, positioning himself as a potential future American addition to the Cadillac Formula 1 lineup.
