Launching a new Formula One team is financially draining, even for a big automaker like General Motors. That’s why Cadillac is reportedly leaning on Scuderia Ferrari HP for an increasing number of vehicle components. While some find this revelation shocking or even amusing, we’re not the least bit taken aback because like we said before, F1 racing is expensive and getting new team off the ground is even more taxing on resources.

Already, we know Cadillac is sourcing its F1 engine and gearbox from Scuderia Ferrari HP when the new team makes its debut in 2026. But a new report claims Cadillac might also be trying to secure a deal to source suspension components from the Italians.
But this additional deal with Maranello isn’t confirmed, as Motorsport points out. In other words, for now it’s just rumor, even though there might be truth behind it.
Even if the information is completely accurate, that doesn’t mean Cadillac and Ferrari will come to an agreement. It might be Cadillac will have to develop its own suspension parts or will be forced to source them from yet another team.
For Ferrari, making such a deal would likely only be a benefit. After all, Cadillac shouldn’t be a threat to the team whatsoever, so providing it with some technologies shouldn’t hurt Maranello’s standings at the different Grand Prix events.
In addition, the deal would supply Scuderia with some extra cash, which is always helpful. Remember, F1 racing is incredibly expensive.
Sourcing parts from other teams in F1 is common, so it’s likely Cadillac will continue the practice for some time after its official launch into the motorsport. For now, the new team is stretched thin as it tries fielding two cars right off the bat.
