You’ve probably seen the robot dogs from Boston Dynamics, which are used by police and businesses. Maybe you didn’t consider one within reach budget-wise, but boy do we have the opportunity for you. Someone has listed a lightly used Spot Robot for sale online at a deep discount.
Humanoid delivery robots are being developed by Amazon.
Even with a big price reduction, we suspect this thing is just out of the reach for most private individuals. After all, it costs more than most people’s cars at $99,000. Before you gasp at how much that is, remember this thing cost $186,000 brand new.
By buying this, you’re saving a whopping $87,000. Well, sort of, only if you were dead set on buying a Boston Dynamics Spot Robot. Otherwise, you’re just spending almost $100,000.
For that, you get a robot dog that’s advertised as having only been used since December 2021 inside a manufacturing facility. That sounds really interesting and we’d definitely have a lot more questions if we were serious buyers.
In the single photo of the robot outside of its case, you can see the yellow legs have black scuff marks on them. Well, you can see two of the legs do. If only the seller had shown this thing standing up so you could see the rest of it, including taking a photo of the other side, that sure would’ve been helpful.
We do know this thing comes with a remote that looks a little too close to an Xbox’s, plus carry cases, four battery packs, and a charger.
The robot itself has the arm and dock, apparently being the top-of-the-line model of the Spot Robot.
What would you use this thing for? We’re genuinely curious. To us it’s just a super expensive toy, even though the listing makes it clear it’s not a toy. We guess if you’re super rich and foolish you could buy it and just play around with it anyway.
