So many people have fond memories of the Batmobile from the Tim Burton Batman movie, so with one of the genuine cars coming up for auction, we expect interest to be high. After all, some enthusiasts pay big bucks for some pretty convincing replicas, but this one is the real deal.
Batman’s monster truck was the best Batmobile ever.
Even better, this is serial no. 1 constructed by Hollywood Productions, according to the auction house. However, the Batmobile was never used in the filming of Batman but instead was used as an exhibition and stunt vehicle at Six Flags Great Adventure.

In other words, it was officially licensed by Warner Bros. and is an exact replica of what everyone saw on the big screen when Tim Burton helmed the franchise. Were this the hero car from the first film it would go for much, much more.
Under that comically long hood is a Chevy 350ci small block V8 backed by an automatic transmission controlled by a lightning rod-style shifter. There’s also a real British Harrier jet intake plus a flamethrower to make the car look like it has an afterburner.
Not only can this Batmobile actually drive, so you could take it to car shows, it has an air suspension so loading it into a trailer or going over obstacles is manageable. The headlights and taillights work.

As for the iconic body, it’s made of fiberglass with a gloss black finish. Over the two seats is a sliding canopy similar to what you find on a fighter jet. The chassis is from a modified Chevy Impala, although it’s been lengthened to almost 20 feet. The whole thing rolls on custom wheels with Mickey Thomspon tires.
Plus, the interior layout is reminiscent of a fighter jet, with numerous gauges, buttons, levers, etc. The custom seats are shod in leather, as is the dash and door panels. Naturally, the steering wheel has the Batman logo in the hub.
Both Chris Dixon and Steve Mank of Wounded Knee Motors in Toledo, Ohio signed this car as the builders. Whomever submits the winning bid will also get a signed certificate of ownership from Six Flags Great Adventure, helping to establish the authenticity of the Batmobile.
