This 1972 Chevy C20 called Derelict that was built by ICON 4×4 isn’t what you think it is. In fact, the Los Angeles shop famous for Toyota Land Cruiser builds to die for says to drive Derelict is to forget that you’re in a classic pickup truck. That’s because it really isn’t one, even though it looks the part inside and out.
Apocalypse Manufacturing expands with a new dealership in Florida.
The best way to describe what this thing is would be to say it’s a modern Chevy Silverado that’s wearing the C20’s skin. But ICON argues it’s not a restomod before anyone calls it that. We supposed you can call it whatever you want.

If you just glance at this thing you’ll think it’s just some old truck with heavy patina. The interior is all original, except for the gauge cluster and center stack controls, which are of course entirely modern. Pop the hood and you’ll find all the mechanicals are of course what you’d find in any other current-gen Silverado.
That’s right, there’s a 5.3-liter EcoTec V8 powering this truck. Sure, it’s not the most powerful mill offered by GM but it also isn’t prone to premature failure, so you could say it’s the low-drama option.

Paired to that is a six-speed automatic and four-wheel drive, so you could take this classic-new truck in some fairly rugged terrain. All the other modern bells and whistles are also included.
All this means the truck looks like a classic, but it’s relatively quiet and starts every time you turn the key. Talk about having your cake and eating it too!
Some people think ICON airbrushed that perfect patina on the body. The shop actually bought it as is from a family living in the high desert region of Central California, so that patina was rightfully earned.
