Boosted Pontiac Trans Am Races Boosted Lamborghini Huracan

Estimated read time 2 min read

Normally most people might say a Pontiac Trans Am wouldn’t stand a chance in a drag race against a Lamborghini Huracan. That’s at least with the two cars in stock form. But what we have for you today is heavily modified Trans Am versus a Huracan Performante with twin turbos and more. It makes for a truly interesting matchup.

Road rager shot in tense confrontation.

This unusual pairing of course comes via Hoonigan’s This vs That video series. They often take two cars with different approaches to speed and put them against each other in a no-prep quarter mile race to see which is faster. Sometimes the results are shocking and other times they’re about what we’d expect.

But this matchup is really something different. The Lambo has been modified to where it’s producing “a little over” 1,400-whp according to the owner. He seems anxious to race, stating he’s curious to “see what it will run.” In other words, he has no idea what kind of quarter mile time it can achieve.

Among the interesting modifications is a Steve Morrison-built engine, AMS transmission, plus upgraded intake manifold, fuel system, driveline, axles, and of course the turbo system. So the supercar has been gone over thoroughly for quite the healthy performance boost.

As if that isn’t interesting enough, the 2000 Pontiac Trans Am was built by Texas Speed with an LSX block, 2-speed transmission, one huge single turbo, and a methanol system. If you just look at the piping, that’s an indication of just how much power the muscle car is pushing, but the owner claims it’s about 1,700-hp.

With that kind of power, the Pontiac seems to have a clear advantage. However, it weighs about 500 lbs. more than the Lambo. And the Huracan has many technological wonders up its sleeve. So it’s not so cut and dry on paper. Which will win out?

Tell us what you think about these rides, then watch the race to see which rolls away victorious.
