A dirt bike rider in Glendale, California led police on quite the chase, at times going onto dirt roads and even shutting off his lights. Reportedly, the rider has led police on other pursuits in the past and apparently has learned quite a few skills, because he got away, at least that night.
Watch a cop use his cruiser to stop a speeding ATV on a footpath.
News helicopters caught the action from above as the suspect left the City of Angels behind, taking to mountain roads where it was more difficult for police units to follow. However, there was also a law enforcement helicopter tracking him.
But when he switched off his dirt bike’s headlight, the vehicle just disappeared into the night. At least the news choppers couldn’t spot him, but we wonder if police don’t have night or thermal vision equipped, allowing them to still track the guy.
If you look closely at the guy’s silhouette before he blacks out, you can see there’s a GoPro camera mounted to his helmet. Some claim he was using that to livestream the chase on his social media, which is possible, but we can’t confirm. If so, that proves this was all just a game to him.
Whether police from the sky could see the dirt bike or not, the suspect does eventually get away. Those who have a problem with police and authority have been celebrating this as a victory, but it was short-lived.
On July 26, about a week after the chase, KCAL reports 20-year-old Christian Valentino Moreno was arrested for reckless driving and felony evading a police officer. Cops impounded his dirt bike as evidence.
Even though the guy got away, his victory was short lived. Apparently, police knew who he was and so they were able to just track down and arrest him later. We bet Moreno was feeling pretty smug about the whole thing, maybe even planning his next chase with police.
