Barn find cars really fascinate people, but this 1974 Dodge Challenger shows how disgusting they can be. After sitting for 30 years, the thing not only has collected a bunch of dust but has quite a few other surprises waiting.
Almost 40,000 people went to the Rodeo Drive Concours D’Elegance on Father’s Day.
The owner of the classic Mopar muscle car got in touch with a professional detailer to get it all cleaned up, realizing it was well beyond his personal capabilities. That was a smart move, because the thing needed serious help.
You can see the paint is covered in a thick layer of that magical barn find dust which at least used to inflate values wildly. But there’s also quite a bit of bird poop, something which curiously isn’t as desirable.

In the cabin there’s a different type of poop, thanks to mice, which adds to the challenge of getting this Challenger looking and smelling great. On top of that, the white seats look even dirtier than the paint.
Thankfully, this Dodge is in good hands with The Detail Geek, a famous YouTuber who takes on disaster detail jobs all the time. He gets to work spraying down the exterior, washing off most of the grime immediately.
But he uses a cool trick, putting degreaser in the mix to help power off the bird droppings. That’s something you should keep in mind for the future, just in case.
The paint actually cleans up way better than we would’ve thought.
As for the interior, it presents some of the same problems we see in a lot of barn find cars. Not surprisingly, there’s a mouse nest under the backseat, plus the urine and droppings to be cleaned up.

While the seats clean up quickly using the steamer, the vinyl is split and crackled, so they’re likely going to be reupholstered anyway.
Polished up, this 1974 Dodge Challenger looks great. The owner plans on dropping a Hemi V8 in it to have more fun with the car instead of just letting it sit.
