Armie Hammer Sells GMC Sierra To Save On Fuel

Estimated read time 2 min read

Irony sure is an interesting thing, like the great-grandson of an oil tycoon selling his truck in favor of a vehicle that sips gas. That’s exactly what movie star Armie Hammer, descendent of Armand Hammer, recently did. The guy posted a video to his Instagram account explaining why he recently traded in his GMC Sierra Denali for something more fuel efficient.

Learn how actor Aaron Paul was taken in a 1969 Ford Torino scam.

Hammer says the truck was a Christmas present to himself back in 2017 when his career was going great. He claims to have owned pickups “for a long time” and said this particular one he has thoroughly enjoyed.

However, the cost of gas in Los Angeles, where the actor lives, has been too much. After taking the Sierra Denali cross country, camping, and a bunch of other places, Hammer says he just can’t afford to keep filling up the GMC with gas.

In the video he’s standing with his truck outside a CarMax dealership, saying he’s about to trade it in for a “tiny” hybrid of some sort. The man claims he’s going to “put about 10 bucks of gas in it a month.”

But he seems pretty bummed about parting ways with his beloved ride. Sure, the hybrid will be cheaper to operate, but it won’t be nearly as fun or memorable. He can’t really take it camping, at least not down a primitive road, nor can he haul a bunch of gear for adventures somewhere else.

He mentions in the video that his kids are upset about the decision, saying there are too many good memories attached to the GMC. It’s like the Jeep Wrangler commercial about how your children will never reminisce about the 50-plus MPG you got in your Toyota Prius but they will always remember a crazy outdoor adventure on a trail in the middle of nowhere.
