We’re less than seven weeks away from the F1 movie hitting theaters and the hype machine is building. The more we see of this film, including the new almost two-and-a-half-minute trailer that dropped today, the better it looks. It’s about time Formula One is portrayed in a modern movie with a gripping plot and practical effects.
Mercedes-AMG reveal an F1 movie-themed limited-edition car.
That’s one thing that’s just striking about this movie: the practical effects. There’s no corny CGI garbage or Fast and Furious shifting 20 times during a drag race nonsense. Instead, you get realistic racing as the actors are in actual F1 cars on real circuits during Grand Prix weekends with real crowds.
The level of authenticity for the film alone is astounding. Then you add in the cinematography looks excellent, the acting seems gripping with not only Brad Pitt but everyone else, and the plot seems great.

If you don’t know, and this new trailer really makes it apparent, F1 is an underdog story. We and most people love those. It tells the tale of a rookie driver and a disgraced veteran brought together on the same team. The term “miracle” is used in the trailer in tandem with winning.
After all, in a sport where Lewis Hamilton is considered an old dog, someone like Pitt would be an ancient relic. Then there’s the issue of a lack of team cohesion, as portrayed in the trailer. As someone rightly says, F1 racing is a team sport and if the two drivers can’t get along and play nice, they’ll both suffer.
On top of that, you have the huge team behind these two with everyone realizing their livelihood relies on the old maverick and young hothead synergizing. It appears Pitt’s love interest in the film works for the team in some capacity, so she has a vested interest in the two succeeding.
If this and the other trailers are any indication, this movie is going to be awesome. We can’t wait to see it!
