A shocking rumor is going around that Scuderia Ferrari is going to leave Italy, at least in part. Supposedly, the Formula One powerhouse is looking at greener pastures to stay competitive as this season isn’t going quite the way it has envisioned.
Lando Norris is now playing second fiddle to Oscar Piastri.
While Ferrari is sitting in third place, just 16 points behind second-place Mercedes, it’s getting killed by McLaren which has a 191 point lead on the Italians. We guess desperate times call for desperate measures, even though this one could be a little too desperate.
Former F1 driver Nico Rosberg, who loves to make prognostications about what’s going to happen in the motorsport, is at it again. According to him, Scuderia Ferrari is looking at setting up shop in the UK of all places.
You might immediately think such a move would be to appease Lewis Hamilton, but we don’t think any driver could possibly get a team to uproot itself long-term. On the other hand, Ferrari and Sauber are the only F1 teams without any assets in the UK.
According to Rosberg, the word on the street is Ferrari would still keep its operations in Italy, so it wouldn’t be leaving the home country entirely, while also setting up a base of operations in the UK.
But Rosberg immediately questions how smart or effective such a strategy would be, reports Planet F1. After all, adding in complexities could be the exact opposite of what’s needed. In fact, it might make things worse as Ferrari keeps hoping for its first Constructors’ title since 2008.
It seems like everything is on the table, at least when it comes to rumors. Plenty of media think Fred Vasseur, team principal for Scuderia Ferrari, could get dismissed by the end of the season.
There have also been rumors that Lewis Hamilton and/or Charles Leclerc will be leaving the team to drive for a competitor.
