Distracted Driver Throttles A 1948 Jaguar XK 120

We hate seeing horrific car accidents like this one which creamed what looked to be a beautiful 1948 Jaguar XK 120. It happened in the Italian mountains with the man who filmed the aftermath saying the other driver, who was in a modern sedan, was distracted by her phone, plowing into the classic vehicle.

This freak monster truck show accident is scary.

What’s even more ironic is after the guy pans over to her car, which has sustained a fair amount of front end damage as well, she still has her phone in her hand while standing in the middle of the road. It’s almost like the thing is surgically attached and so can’t be put down.

All of us know that person who just can’t seem to stay in their lane while they’re either tapping away on their phone or doing other things like fiddling with the onboard navigation. They just can’t be bothered to be present and stay engaged in the act of driving.

As many noted in the comments of this video, which was posted to Reddit, the woman’s insurance company isn’t going to like the claim from the other driver. After all, here in the US they’re easily worth six digits in they’re in good condition.

We can’t imagine these highly sought after Jaguars are worth less in Italy. And from the looks of the portions which weren’t wrecked by the distracted driver, this one was in excellent condition, so its value could be well over the $200,000 mark.

Does the lady even realize what she did? Is the magnitude of her mistake adding up in her head? Or is she still concerned with her text messages, tweets, or whatever was supposedly more important than driving?

People seem to think driving is so boring or that they’re so busy they can do whatever while not even keeping their eyes, let alone their attention, on the road. Then in a split second they learn they’re not all that great of a driver after all. At least in this crash nobody was hurt, but the classic Jaguar is going to need a lot of expensive work.
