We all make mistakes sometimes, but we bet few of you have driven off from the gas pump with the nozzle still in your vehicle. That’s what makes watching this Bugatti Chiron driver do just that so hilarious. After all, the guy can afford one of the most ostentatious hypercars on the planet, but he forgot one of the most mundane details we mostly all remember.
This is what a gas station explosion looks like.
You can see in surveillance footage uploaded to TikTok, which we’ve included, the black Bugatti pulls up to the pump and the driver starts pumping some gas. It’s something he probably has to do all the time if he drives the Chiron much at all, so one would think he has the activity down.
But, instead of pulling the nozzle out once the tank is topped off, the driver just gets back inside and takes off, pulling the release coupling off on the hose. They actually have those on pumps nowadays to avoid damage to cars and the pump since this sort of thing happens more often than you might want to believe.
If you watch the footage closely enough, you notice at the “A Few Moments Later” caption the guy is returning to the Bugatti with a bag of stuff he obviously bought inside the gas station market. So he comes out and is eager to go wherever, maybe to indulge in his purchases, and completely forgets the nozzle is still in his hypercar.
After the accident, the hypercar driver gets out, pulls the nozzle out of the gas filler, and carries it along with the hose over to the island by the pump, laying it down before getting back in his vehicle. He doesn’t even bother to tell an attendant the hose needs to be reattached.
Maybe he was too embarrassed to say anything? If so, we can understand why.
