One of the most recognizable cars from the Marvel Cinematic Universe is preparing for a real-world encore. The custom Acura NSX roadster driven by Tony Stark in The Avengers is set to be auctioned, offering collectors a rare chance to acquire a piece of modern film and automotive history.

Honda confirmed that the actual car used during production of the 2012 blockbuster, as well as appearances tied to its release, will cross the block through Cars & Bids later this year. The vehicle is a true one-off, created specifically for the film and never intended for public sale until now.
While the Acura NSX already holds an important place among enthusiasts, this example stands apart from any production version. Its design was inspired by the second-generation NSX concept revealed at the 2012 North American International Auto Show, yet it is built on the platform of a first-generation NSX. Underneath the custom bodywork sits a 1991 NSX chassis that had accumulated 252,000 miles at the time it was selected for the project.
The car remains in the same configuration seen on screen. It features a hand-crafted body developed under the direction of Acura creative director Dave Marek and finished in a deep red tone reminiscent of red wine. Inside, the cabin is trimmed in black leather and fitted with aftermarket seats and racing harnesses. The car also retains its distinctive “Stark 33” license plate, linking it unmistakably to its cinematic role.
Honda has not announced an exact auction date but confirmed the sale will benefit a charity chosen by the winning bidder. In addition, Honda plans to make a separate donation to the Sundance Institute. Ahead of the auction, the vehicle will be displayed at the organization’s annual film festival in Park City, Utah.
The final sale price is expected to be significant. Values for rare and special NSX models have climbed sharply in recent years, with some examples reaching seven-figure territory. Given its one-off status, screen history, and direct association with one of the most successful film franchises ever, this NSX could exceed typical expectations when bidding opens.
