The Czinger 21C hypercar has claimed a new production car lap record at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, continuing the model’s steady rise in global performance benchmarks. The California-built hypercar recorded a lap time of 1:22.30 at the historic circuit in Monterey County, eclipsing the previous production car record by nearly two seconds.
The record-setting lap took place last week on the 2.238-mile track, one of the most demanding road courses in the United States. The prior benchmark had been set by the Koenigsegg Jesko, which had posted a 1:24.16 lap just one month earlier. That time itself had narrowly beaten Czinger’s earlier production car record at the same circuit.

The 21C used for the record is powered by a twin-turbocharged V-8 engine paired with electric motors, producing a combined 1,250 horsepower. The lap was driven by Joel Miller, who has spent extensive time behind the wheel of the 21C. Miller recently completed a 1,000-mile tour of California race tracks in the same vehicle, setting lap records at every stop along the way.
Those tracks included Thunderhill Raceway Park, Sonoma Raceway, Willow Springs Raceway, and the Thermal Club. During that tour, the 21C initially set a production car lap record at Laguna Seca with a time of 1:24.39, a mark that was later surpassed by the Jesko. Czinger returned to Laguna Seca following that exchange and delivered the significantly quicker lap.
The December 9 run benefited from favorable conditions, including warm pavement and clear weather. A prior attempt during the summer had been disrupted by a crash, delaying the company’s effort to reclaim the record.
Czinger has steadily built momentum with the 21C in recent years, unveiling updated versions at major automotive events and earning international attention with record-setting performances. While the competition between Czinger and Koenigsegg is expected to continue, the latest result establishes a sizable margin that may prove difficult to overcome in the near term.

The achievement carries particular significance for Czinger, which is based in Los Angeles and was founded in 2019. Compared with longer-established hypercar manufacturers, the company remains a newcomer, making its rapid ascent through record books all the more notable.
