Toyota Gazoo Racing is gearing up to reclaim endurance racing glory with an updated version of its GR010 Hybrid prototype, set to debut in the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship season. The new car will make its first on-track appearance during testing at France’s Circuit Paul Ricard on October 8.

After years of dominance at Le Mans, Toyota has found itself chasing Ferrari since the Italian manufacturer’s triumphant return to top-level endurance racing in 2023. Ferrari’s 499P Le Mans Hypercar has since secured three consecutive victories, ending Toyota’s long streak of success at the iconic 24-hour race. The Japanese automaker now hopes its revamped GR010 will turn the tide.

Teaser images released by Toyota hint at major aerodynamic revisions. The new GR010 Hybrid features a sleeker front end with horizontally oriented, sweptback LED headlights and a full-width LED light strip across the rear. The reshaped rear wing and refined body contours suggest Toyota has invested heavily in improving both downforce and stability at high speeds.
While Toyota has not yet confirmed full technical specifications, the outgoing model was powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 paired with a front-mounted electric motor — a configuration that delivered roughly 1,000 combined horsepower under hybrid rules. The 2026 iteration is expected to retain the same general layout while integrating lessons learned from recent competition.

“Our goal is always to push boundaries and compete at the highest level,” a Toyota spokesperson said. “We’ve taken everything we’ve learned over the past seasons to build a faster, more efficient, and more adaptable car.”
As the endurance racing landscape grows increasingly competitive — with Ferrari, Porsche, and Cadillac all fielding top-tier entries — Toyota’s refreshed GR010 Hybrid signals that the battle for Le Mans supremacy is far from over.
