A restored 1969 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray with an unusually small number of miles driven since completion is attracting strong interest as its online auction approaches its final hours, highlighting continued demand for high-quality classic American sports cars.
The Corvette has accumulated only 601 miles since its restoration was completed in 2023. Despite the fresh mechanical condition, the owner chose not to keep the car, instead listing it for sale in a no-reserve auction on eBay. That decision appears to have fueled competitive bidding, with nearly 20 bids recorded and the top offer already surpassing $50,000 as the auction nears its conclusion.

The 1969 model year holds a distinct place in Corvette history. A labor strike in May of that year extended production by four months, allowing Chevrolet to build 38,762 Corvettes. Coupes accounted for 22,129 of those cars, making the hardtop configuration the more common choice among buyers.
Chevrolet offered a wide range of engines for the 1969 Stingray. The base option was a 350 cubic-inch V8 producing 300 horsepower. Performance-oriented buyers could step up to the L46 small-block, rated at 350 horsepower, or the L36 big-block, which displaced 427 cubic inches and delivered 390 horsepower through a Holley four-barrel carburetor and high-performance camshaft. At the top of the lineup sat the ZL1, an aluminum-block 427 rated at 430 horsepower, produced in extremely limited numbers due to its cost.

The car currently for sale is equipped with the 427 cubic-inch, 390-horsepower L36 engine. According to the seller, it retains matching numbers and is paired with a four-speed manual transmission. While most manual-equipped Corvettes from 1969 used the M20 gearbox, this example does not feature the rarer M22 heavy-duty transmission.
Finished in its factory-correct Cortez Silver with a black leather interior, the Corvette includes factory air conditioning and four-wheel disc brakes. Although restored rather than preserved, the car presents as nearly new, with minimal use since completion. Some modern upgrades, including a contemporary stereo, have been added but could be reversed.

Located in Vero Beach, Florida, the Corvette has also drawn significant attention from watchers, suggesting late bidding activity could further drive the price upward. As the countdown continues, the auction underscores how even restored examples can command strong money when condition, specification, and timing align.
