A true barn find condition car like this 1965 Mustang Convertible can be in genuinely rough, incomplete shape. This old Ford certainly fits into that category with issues visible all over the place and probably more lurking where it isn’t so easy to see.
Is this barn find ’69 Camaro treasure or trash?
But the couple who are looking at this barn find Mustang see potential, not a problem. They look past the dull paint, damaged convertible top, even the tires sunken into the ground and think of what could be.

Let’s not even get into the rust and what’s probably animal droppings populating nooks and crannies.
Behind the pony car is a literally heap of rusty old parts. They look to have come off the Mustang, perhaps by someone who at one point had the goal of restoring the convertible. Sadly, that plan never came to fruition.
What isn’t still there are some pretty critical parts. Those include the engine and transmission. The interior has been pretty much gutted, but there’s no sign of the font or rear seats. As the guy notes while looking, the trunk pan is also missing.
A car like this could be seen as a hot mess, which is probably why it’s sat untouched in a barn for so many years. For a lot of people it’s the ultimate in frustration, a jigsaw puzzle without all the pieces, a financial blackhole.
But you could also look at it as a blank canvas, something you can turn into all sorts of things. Without an engine and transmission, you could drop in an LS, source and old Windsor, go with a modern Coyote, or exercise any number of other options.
What would you do with this Mustang?
