Personally, we’re fans of rat rods that are done right and we think this 1947 Willys Jeep build falls under that category. At least from the photos and details included in an ad listing the vehicle for sale we think it’s done right. But you might want to figure that out before pulling the trigger.
Do you think this barn find 1969 Camaro Z/28 is a deal?
Most rat rods are something like a Ford Deuce, which is great and all, but sometimes that gets repetitive and a little boring. It’s nice to see someone mix it up and use a classic Jeep for a change.
Maybe some of the Jeep crowd will find this triggering or ridiculous or whatever and they just don’t like it. After all, the vehicle which won WWII or whatever tall claims are made about these things means it can never do anything other than lead parades and be driven in rugged conditions.

But this one is lowered, thanks to a new frame that puts the wheels way out to the sides. The tires have big knobs and voids, so that part looks about right, but this thing has been chopped, has a 400 SBC crate motor in it with an air cleaner that towers well above where the hood should be, and it looks all sorts of wrong.
Someone even put what looks like metal steer horns over the iconic slotted grille and round headlights. That right there is Jeep blasphemy and it’s delicious.
The seller says this thing is “very fun to drive” and we bet it really is. Plus, it will get you “tons of attention” anywhere you go. That we can bet is also quite true.
But this ride isn’t for everyone, especially the Jeep purists. Maybe you’d pony up the $15,000 asking price to get some stares and maybe give the Jeep Wave to guys in Wranglers?
