Popular YouTube content creator and streamer IShowSpeed, real name Darren Watkins Jr., has been banned on the video platform after jumping over two moving exotic supercars. The stunts were performed during a livestream event and generated plenty of attention. That, in turn, brought scrutiny from YouTube’s infamous nannies, eventually resulting in the platform ban.
A YouTuber has learned an expensive lesson about Rolls-Royces.
YouTube claims IShowSpeed violated its sacred Community Guidelines, something which has gotten other creators in trouble in the past. Apparently, they weren’t impressed by the guy jumping over a McLaren and Lamborghini as they drove right at him.
His recording of the stunt is still live on X and it’s honestly crazy. Both supercars were going at a good clip, so had he not successfully cleared them the guy would’ve been seriously hurt if not killed. But he knows how to put on a show, even if that means he got popped in the end.
The ban on YouTube isn’t permanent, so IShowSpeed will be back. Considering his channel has over 27 million subscribers, we’re not sure YouTube could honestly afford to boot him completely. However, they have to discourage other content creators from performing these kinds of dangerous stunts.
Of course, opinions about the ban and its reason run the range. Some think it’s a good thing since it will discourage reckless daredevil stunts performed by other YouTubers. Others believe it’s an impingement on free speech and grossly unnecessary. Some think jumping over exotic supercars as they race down a street is a dumb idea which should have consequences, either natural or imposed.
A lot of claims about the temporary ban and supposed strike earned by IShowSpeed on YouTube have been made, but we can’t verify them. All we know is that for the time being new content isn’t going up on his channel.
