A lot of Gen Z car shoppers and a fair number of younger Millennials seems to have quite the affinity for Kei cars like this 2019 Daihatsu Mini. As we understand it, one of the alluring elements is the promise of a lower price versus traditional vehicles in the US. But with an asking price of $17,500 we wonder how many of you would flock to it.
The Brabus Big Boy 1200 is at the other end of the size and luxury spectrum.
This little dump truck certainly lives up to its name and measures up to Japanese government classification to be considered a Kei, or at least we believe it does. What we would want to know before plopping down any money is how it was imported to the US and if everything’s kosher there – something you should always investigate when looking at a vehicle brought in from another country.
With just 8,750 miles on the odometer, this Daihatsu looks pretty fresh. The owner says it runs “great” and even posts a video in the listing to show the bed dumping out a load of cut firewood. If you need something to get work done that isn’t huge and likely won’t cost much to run, this might be your ticket.
Not only does this thing have new knobby tires, the listing says it comes with a differential lock, so it should be able to get through some fairly rugged off-road areas. That could be great if you have a farm, ranch, or some other large property and need a runabout.
And while the interior is about as Spartan as we’d expect, this thing does have a heater and air conditioning, so it’s not completely devoid of comforts. Just we wouldn’t take it on some epic road trip, although a YouTuber might for some whacky video content. Maybe one of them will snag this bad boy?
