There are a lot of ways to build an off-roader and this old bus that’s been painted blue is one of them. Even better, it’s listed for sale and you might be able to swing the asking price, plus customize this unusual rig to suit your preferences.
Check out this freaky double cab truck.
According to the seller, this used to be a UNCE 4×4 party bus, so some people had fun with it. You could go that route if you have a solid business plan, or you could build this thing as an outdoor tour bus, overland rig, food truck, or whatever you might imagine – there are many possibilities.

From the pictures, the interior looks pretty original, so it’s not what we would describe as nice. But that means you’re not paying for someone else’s upgrades you don’t really like all that much. Using the space as a clean slate, you could pull out the seats and other elements, then outfit the interior with whatever you want in your own off-roading bus.
The good news is this thing is all steel, no fiberglass, so the construction is pretty solid. There’s the standard side door the driver controls as well as a rear door you could install some fold down steps from.
Under the hood is a nice strong DT466 diesel engine mated to an Allison automatic transmission. Even better, this thing has a four-wheel-drive system with a divorced transfer case as well as beefy axles to help guard against breakages on the trail.

As the seller points out, you can bolt miliary SRW 5-ton wheels onto this bus, which are usually outfitted with 40-inch knobby tires. Thus equipped, we think this thing would be quite capable. But this bus isn’t for everyone.
