A cop in Florida is getting mocked after dashcam and bodycam footage shows him getting attacked by a wild turkey. The deputy was making a traffic stop when he radioed in the incident, saying, “10-4, I’m getting attacked by a chicken!”
Watch a disguised NASCAR driver scare a car salesman during a test drive.
We’re guessing in the police academy they’re not teaching the differences between chickens, turkeys, ducks, and geese since that’s something you supposedly learn in preschool if not by elementary.
In the footage, we see the deputy get out of his cruiser after running a driver’s info. That’s when he spots a group of birds in the road and calls them “chickens” after quacking at them like a duck. Florida is a weird place, so all of that fits right in.
As the deputy is talking to the driver, one of the turkeys approaches from behind, making some aggressive gobbles while it is within three feet of the cop. If it were a human, that would be considered a great way to get shot.
Instead, we’re pretty sure the turkey was being territorial and considered the deputy to be a threat. If you’ve ever dealt with wild turkeys, once they decide you need to be chased out of an area, they’re notoriously relentless.
When the bird ruffles its feathers and flaps its wings while advancing on the deputy again, it visibly spooks the man. He might have some sort of bird phobia thanks to unprocessed childhood trauma.
But the deputy decides to respond in kind, kicking at the turkey, which only seems to anger the animal. Then he waves his cap around after handing the driver’s license and such back, allowing him to chase after the turkey.
That’s when he let dispatch know a “chicken” was attacking him. This is when we have to wonder: which is the brighter beast?
