If you were born in a year starting with a one, and especially with the third number being a seven, you’ve probably seen a DeLorean at least a few times in your life. But there’s a whole generation of car enthusiasts who have only laid eyes on one when watching the Back to the Future movies, so to spot one in the flesh is just something else.

That’s why we loved watching this video a DeLorean owner took as he pulled into a Secret Nightz car meet heavily attended by Gen Z and younger Millennials. Some of them looked at the stainless steel body like they’d seen an alien, it’s just great.
Not only did a sea of kids wearing hoodies start taking photos and videos, you can hear them loudly declare to their friends how they’ve “never seen one of these.”
Others stared with wide eyes, their jaws literally hanging open. For kids who see all kinds of crazy things on their phones, growing up with technology constantly entertaining them, this is a wonderfully healthy exercise in reality.
We also praise these kids for leaving the house, instead of being perpetual shut-ins like so many of their peers. They’re defying declarations that their generation doesn’t care about cars, socializing in person, and whatever else Boomers and the like want to hurl at them.
Still, we have to sit back and chuckle at their reactions to the DeLorean. They’d probably be similarly baffled by a rotary phone or an eight track. It’s really something else.
After driving through the meet and parking, the DeLorean immediately starts drawing a crowd. One of the first questions the owner gets is, “Can this thing reach 88 miles per hour.” Amazing!
