Cops stop to help stranded motorists all the time, but a deputy in Colorado got quite the surprise when he rescued Captain America from a bind. The superhero’s iconic motorcycle had broken down on the side of the highway and Cap couldn’t get the thing started again. That’s when the deputy stepped up in an unexpected way.
This double-cab truck build is something you have to see to believe.
Bodycam footage of the exchange has been shared online by local news station 9News and we’ve included it for you to watch. It starts midway through the interaction between a man dressed up in a Captain America costume, who reportedly goes by Colorado Captain.
That man was head to an annual holiday parade at Children’s Hospital Colorado when his bike gave up the ghost. He apparently spends quite a bit of time donning the Captain American getup to raise money for pediatric cancer and promote causes affecting children.
In other words, even though the guy doesn’t have super strength he is a real life superhero. But even superheroes need a helping hand now and then. The Douglas County deputy was concerned the man’s motorcycle, which was on the left shoulder, could be stolen by some nefarious individuals had it been left there.
Or worse, the guy could get hit by a car while loading it up onto a trailer later.
It sounds like Colorado Captain didn’t know what else to do. Maybe the guy’s short on cash like a lot of people during the holidays, or maybe he was just hoping people are honest. The cop has seen stuff like that go missing from the side of roads plenty of times, we’re sure, so he wasn’t about to see that happen to such a stand-up guy.
The deputy tells Captain America he’s calling a tow truck to take the motorcycle somewhere safe and he, the deputy, will call and tell him where. After all, Cap is late for the parade and he has to hurry along with his friend who stopped to pick him up. But the best part is the deputy says he’s personally paying for the tow.
Maybe the deputy has AAA or some other service where he gets a certain number of free tows, or maybe he’s paying for it out of pocket. But one thing’s for sure, the cop appreciates the important work this other man is doing for kids. Plus it’s Christmastime and he sees someone in need.
May we all be looking out for those who need a hand up this season. Watch the bodycam footage, see the smile on Cap’s face, and share a message of hope with everyone you know.
