Now with a second national event win in NHRA Top Fuel competition at Route 66 Nationals in Chicago this past weekend, Tony Stewart has become the points leader for the season. For anyone counting, that’s two wins in just six races, proving Stewart is a champion.
Other racers have been skeptical about Max Verstappen’s Nurburgring record lap.
“Winning never gets old,” said Stewart after his victory run. He edged out Justin Ashley in the final, a man Stewart says is “the best on the tree.” No wonder he’s feeling like a million bucks.
It doesn’t hurt that Smoke was able to do his best run yet at 3.679 in the qualifying and 3.777 in the final as Ashley did a 3.818. He now leads Shawn Langdon in the NHRA Mission Top Fuel points by three.
