We keep hearing from guys who have probably never had grease embedded under their fingernails how old cars like a C2 Corvette can’t stand up against modern supercars. Some even mockingly say their Kia minivan is faster than any classic performance ride. All that talk is just hot air as this video of a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray absolutely roasting supercars at the track clearly shows.
Check out this high-powered C2 Corvette Grand Sport.
Granted, the beautiful C2 ‘Vette is hardly factory spec. After all, housed under the hood is a decidedly more modern 6.2-liter LT1 small block V8 with plenty of mods to squeeze maximum power out of the mill.

Just looking at the rear tires from the back of the American sports car, it’s clear all that rubber is for something. After all, no ’67 Corvette needs that big of a contact patch unless there’s been some serious tinkering going on.
In addition to the LT1, the owner has installed a nice 62mm twin-turbo setup running 18 to 20 lbs. of boost, free-flow exhaust with cutouts, and a 200R4 transmission donated by a Buick Grand National, of all things.
The owner admits on camera he doesn’t know exactly how much power the car is making, but it’s definitely north of 900-horsepower. More importantly, as he as he blasts down the tarmac for the Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack, racing against modern supercars that have also been modified, he crosses the finish line a half a mile away by a good margin each and every time.
Show this to someone the next time they try to claim new performance cars are automatically better. Also, show this to anyone who thinks buying a vehicle that’s fast off the factory line is automatically superior. Built is the way to go, but it helps to have a good base vehicle for your build, like this C2 Corvette.
