Tesla upfitting company UP.FIT recently announced “the world’s first duty-ready Cybertruck.” While the example shown in official images portray the angular truck as a police patrol vehicle, it apparently can also be outfitted for tactical response and as a fire battalion truck.
Check out the world’s first gold-plated Cybertruck.
A lot of people have thoughts about using any Tesla as a police cark, but the Cybertruck gets even more hate. Everyone can argue about why that is; we just know it’s reality.
UP.FIT says the Patrol Cybertruck can be outfitted as a pursuit vehicle, get additional ballistics protection, and even come with a “fur missle” upfit. Standard upfits include a push bar, spotlight, siren, light bar, and additional emergency lighting.
More interesting is the Tactical Cybertruck option, which is designed for SWAT or military operations. The company claims it’s the “most ballistics capable patrol vehicle” it offers, we assume because the other Teslas don’t have the stainless steel body panels and break-resistant glass.
The company also promotes the Cybertruck as a great option for performing remote police work in rugged areas. Not everyone will agree with that assessment after videos of the Tesla struggling in snow, sand, and other off-road elements have been spread around. But it’s possible some law enforcement agencies will jump on board with the idea.
As we covered before, this isn’t the first time the Tesla pickup has been portrayed in police form, with Oracle showing off its concept way back during Oracle CloudWorld 2023.
The Oracle police Cybertruck concept is a little different. Integrated into the Oracle First Responder System, officers get the latest information about a situation fed to them on the vehicle touchscreen, with a zero-failure satellite system relaying data and radio communications.
Among the information sent to the Cybertruck is livestreamed bodycam footage from first responders already on the scene of an incident.
What’s more, officers can do many things through voice commands, helping them to be less distracted while behind the wheel.
The big question is will a Tesla Cybertruck in police guise put fear in the hearts of criminals? We’ll probably find out soon enough.
