Grocery getters, people haulers – wagons have been maligned by the ignorant for some time, but this 1964 Chevelle Wagon hides a secret weapon to make it a vicious sleeper. If you’re familiar with these somewhat rare rides, one glance will tell you something is going on with this one, thanks to the severely altered stance and a few other visual cues. But nothing will prepare you for the full truth.
Or go with this Swagger Wagon instead.
Built by Dutch Boys Hot Rods out of Vicksburg, Michigan, this Chevelle Wagon is ready to blow away competitors while hauling groceries in the back. Under the hood sits a potent GM Performance LT4 V8 crate engine.
With the aid of a supercharger up top, the LT4 whips out a respectable 650-horsepower, more than enough to get this Chey moving in a hurry. Even better, there’s a GM Performance 10L90 10-speed automatic transmission that ensures lighting-fast gear transitions for velvety smooth, rapid acceleration.
Making full use of that power is an Art Morrison Sport GT chassis, providing torsional rigidity where it counts. Added to that are Wilwood disc brakes and Strange Engineering coilovers for optimal control, making for an even more enjoyable ride. Just imagine cruising around town in this cool wagon.
That exterior sure shows well with the yellow paint and chrome trim. Ten-spoke wheels do the classic bodywork justice, with the rear wheels neatly tucked under the fenders. This thing will turn heads and get conversations going, that’s for sure.
The interior is anything but factory spec. It comes with supple tan leather upholstery and bucket seats donated by a BMW, so you’re getting the lap of luxury in this Chevelle.
You don’t come across cars like this 1964 Chevelle Wagon often. This one crosses the block at Mecum’s Glendale 2025 auction on Saturday, March 22, 2025. See the lot listing yourself here.
