Like many, we love the 1969 Chevelle since it’s one of the most iconic classic American muscle cars ever made. However, we know some people like to see them kept original while others love the restomod movement. While we’ve featured painstakingly restored rides before, this one falls squarely in the restomod class with a modern engine, LED lights, and more tech goodies.
Check out this 1966 Chevelle for a different kind of build.
The heart of this Chevelle is enough to win over those who aren’t violently opposed to restomods over. After all, the 427ci LSX Nelson Racing Engine along with twin 88mm turbos thumps out 1,600-horsepower. That combined with a built 4L80E automatic transmission and 9-inch Ford rear is enough to destroy the tires in short order, as you can clearly see in the rather smokey portions of video showing this build in action.
RestoMods Speed Shop didn’t entirely build this muscle car. Instead, they acquired it on Bring A Trailer and brought it the rest of the way, changing different elements to really punch things up.
The previous owner not only got the engine and turbo system as a turn-key package designed specifically for the ’69 Chevelle, he bought an Art Morrison chassis to handle all that power.
It seems like many of the additions made by RestoMods are small details like the headlights which incorporate air intakes for the turbos, Ring Brothers hood hinges, front lower spoiler, and so on. You might think all that doesn’t really matter all that much, but we can tell you it’s the details which really make a build great.
But the classic lines of the Chevelle combined with the red hot powertrain sure helps make this restomod muscle car one that will impress plenty. Check out the video to see it in action, because its’ a beauty.
