Basketball superstar Shaquille O’Neal is a well-known gearhead, having amassed an impressive collection of rides that seems to only be growing. And if an Instagram story he posted recently is to be taken seriously, it seems the big guy is looking to add a Tesla Cybertruck to his garage.
Shaq can’t fit in supercars, but he’s going to keep buying them anyway.
The video he shared shows him climbing out of one of the angular all-electric pickup trucks, then handing what appears to be the keys to his Dodge Charger Hellcat Redeye Widebody over in exchange for the Tesla.
In the post, Shaq tagged Effortless Motors, which posted the same video to its account (we’ve included it for you to view). One of the guys from that dealer gives a plug for the business at the end.
It seems like a stretch that Shaq would dump his custom Hellcat Redeye for anything, even a Cybertruck. After all, the man took delivery of the Mopar muscle car just last summer and it’s one unique ride.
Plus, Shaq has been filmed out enjoying his customized Dodge, so we doubt he’s looking to dump it. The man can obviously afford to keep the muscle car and buy a Cybertruck.
What makes us think this is just a marketing scheme and not the real deal is the fact Tesla has been aggressively going after anyone trying to flip a Cybertruck within the first year of ownership. The automaker has in its contract a clause that would ban someone from buying Teslas new for life. We don’t know how many would risk such a thing, although it could happen.
So does Effortless Motors really have a Cybertruck for sale that Shaq’s getting in exchange for his custom muscle car or is this just a promotional stunt?
