We’ve seen all kinds of crazy police chases before, including with suspects in golf carts, but this one out of Pine Bluff, Arkansas comes with a twist ending we didn’t anticipate. It also helps confirm that justice in Arkansas is incredibly different than what’s doled out in places like California.
Road rage in a McDonald’s drive-through turns into a fatal shooting.
What’s also different is police in places like Arkansas are much more willing to mock criminals. Dashcam footage shared by Pine Blue Police Department of this hilarious chase is even funnier because it’s set to Yakety Sax, a song used for the intro of the old Benny Hill show.
We see the suspect trying out outmaneuver two police cars, a Dodge Charger and Durango, by cutting through what looks like a bank drive-through, across a road, and around a quick lube shop before veering out into a larger street in a commercial area.
The little electric vehicle can’t actually outrun any car, not even the lowly Mitsubishi Mirage, so it’s hilarious to watch this suspect even try. His idea of snaking around buildings isn’t bad one, just there are only so many in the area.
But as the camera car spots the golf cart bandit get on the main road, it’s not a police car which catches up with him. Instead, some guy on foot runs up and jumps into the cargo area of the cart.
It doesn’t look like the guy’s a cop. He appears to be wearing jeans, a dark top, and a baseball cap with a large beard. We’re guessing either he works at the quick lube place or was a customer there and decided to end the ridiculousness. Maybe he even knows the suspect and doesn’t like him, feeling more than happy to help police take the guy down.
Whatever the reason for the guy helping, he’s able to start choking out the suspect driver from behind, forcing him to stop the golf cart, allowing police to make their collar.
Why the suspect was running in a golf cart isn’t clear, but we imagine he did something equally as ridiculous before police arrived. After all, who in their right mind thinks that kind of a getaway attempt is even somewhat of a good idea?
