E-bikes, or bicycles with batteries and an electric motor, can be fun to ride. However, they can also constitute a danger if you’re not careful. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s son Pax recently crashed his into a car, landing himself in the hospital with a nasty head injury, serving as a prefect example of what could happen.
Learn how e-bikes and electric motorcycles are being used in the military.
The crash reportedly happened back on the morning of July 29 in Los Angeles, reports TMZ. As soon as we heard the 20-year-old suffered a serious head injury we knew he likely wasn’t wearing a helmet, something which was confirmed in the report.
He apparently ran right into the back of a car stopped at a red light. We’ve seen this sort of thing happen not only with cyclists but also motorcycle riders and it’s always sad.
Not only did the kid suffer head trauma, he reportedly told medics on the scene he was experiencing hip pain. We hope he’s made a recovery, although we also know crash injuries can take a long time to fully heal.
This is why we’re so big on anyone riding a motorcycle, dirt bike, e-bike, bicycle, etc. needs to get some training. You have to be ultra-aware of your surroundings at all times, not distracted or zoned out. Running into the back of a car stopped at a red light shouldn’t happen if you’re seeing everything in front of you, because there would be two warnings to slow down and stop.
There seems to be some question about whether or not Pax legally had to be wearing a helmet. We don’t know all the intricacies of California helmet laws, but we do know helmets can prevent serious injury. We’ve experienced that firsthand and seen in secondhand more than a few times.
Ride safe, everyone.
