Motorcycle Helmet Camera Shows Weird Crash Aftermath

Estimated read time 2 min read

We love motorcycles, but the sad reality is crashes like the one featured in the included video scare us. Even if you as a rider do everything correctly, a driver in a 4,000 lbs. vehicle can just plow into you, leaving you with a slim chance of survival. It’s a real risk thanks to distraction and intoxication, two possible explanations for what you’re about to see in this crash aftermath.

This Harley vs Toyota crash illustrates the dangerous reality about riding on public roads.

The video starts off with a guy on a sport bike with a 360-degree camera mounted to his full-face helmet. He’s going at a good clip straight through an intersection with a green light when a white car turns left right in front of him.

Seeing the inevitable collision, the rider lets off the throttle and braces for impact. And he hits the vehicle hard, his head striking the A-pillar and the helmet going through the front passenger window, landing on the unoccupied seat.

We don’t know if the rider survived this collision – we hope he did and that he was able to fully recover. What we do know is the camera kept recording as the helmet sat right next to the driver and boy, is it revealing about why she never saw the bike as she turned right in front of it.

The driver doesn’t notice the helmet, which came crashing in with a bunch of glass spraying everywhere. She just keeps on driving, only briefly looking at the helmet once, then turning her attention to the road or whatever hallucination she’s experiencing.

Was she high? Drunk? Legally blind? Senile? Off on another planet? People are arguing over this one and we don’t have an answer. All we know is people shouldn’t be this unaware while behind the wheel. But we know a lot of drivers are, and that’s why riding on public roads scares us these days.
