A military JLTV that was pulling a trailer while traveling on the highway in the Seattle area crashed epically, falling onto a surface street below. While the armored truck looks sufficiently mangled, we can only imagine what a regular civilian vehicle like a Honda Civic would look like after pulling the same maneuver.
The Netherlands makes a big order for Oshkosh JLTVs.
According to Trooper Rick Johnson, who posted photos of the crash just moments after it happened on the afternoon of May 10, the military truck was going eastbound on Interstate 90 when it “drifted right.”
Why the truck didn’t stay in its lane isn’t clear. What we do know is it hit the guardrail on the side of the interstate, crashed through it, and went over the wall, landing on SE 38th St. Two minor injuries were reported, we assume the soldiers who were onboard. Thankfully, no other cars were involved in the accident.

The JLTV was towing a trailer at the time. It flipped onto the roof of the truck crashing it partly. Without the trailer, we’re assuming the occupant cell would’ve been better preserved and maybe the soldier’s wouldn’t have been injured?
From the photo showing the front of the military truck, we can see it has a yellow banner indicating it was part of a convoy.
Theories on social media about what lead to the crash ran the range. Some believe the driver was drowsy while others theorized it was a woman who can’t drive correctly – there are always plenty of evidence-free hot takes on the internet.
The fact is the crash could’ve been caused by driver error, a mechanical fault, or something else. We’re sure the military is investigating that.
Interestingly, news station WKRC called the truck a Humvee, we assume because it was so mangled it almost looks like it could be one. However, key details on the non-mangled portions of the truck show it’s clearly a JLTV, the successor to the Humvee, which is also still in service.
That does make us wonder how a Humvee in the same situation would’ve held up considering the JLTV has a classified suspension. Did that make a huge different on impact? Is the construction of the JLTV able to take a huge hit like this better?
