As part of his ongoing public relations makeover to help him seem more human, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg went on Theo Von’s podcast recently to talk about a range of topics. One of those was how he daily drives a raucous Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, something which shocked and impressed many gearheads.
Check out Formula One driver George Russell’s new car.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about Zuckerberg’s Caddie, but we guess some people missed the revelation he drives the Blackwing back in the fall. In a video promoting the then-new Ray-Ban Meta glasses, he asks the smart device where he parked his car, but the ride is never shown.
However, when people asked Zuckerberg in the comments what he drives, the head of Meta answered, “Mostly Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing these days but sometimes other things (sic).”
Theo Von dug more into the topic, asking about Zuckerberg’s daily driver, which he probably figured was still the Caddie. Upon further questioning, the social media guru revealed the Blackwing has a manual transmission, which seems to have blown people’s minds.
After all, these days few opt for manual transmissions, even for a performance vehicle. That in turn means Zuckerberg, a huge tech geek, prefers the more analog experience of shifting gears himself. The man confirmed that he’s a stick shift lover.
All this squares with the public image makeover Zuckerberg has been undergoing recently. The guy has obviously been eating more protein and lifting weights, grew his hair out, and has been going to MMA fights.
Zuckerberg is trying to appear more human and relatable, like a cool bro type, instead of acting like a weirdo people joke is really an alien or robot in disguise.
However, there are still signs for those who are truly observant. After all, the guy had West Coast Customs stretch out a Porsche Cayenne, adding a sliding minivan door for his wife’s ride last fall, believing everyone would find that super cool.
It’s the little details that are usually the tell.
